A large-capacity Zayer machine tool will be one of the biggest machines Mills CNC has ever showcased at a MACH show.

The company says it is confident that the Zayer Xios G MT, a 6-axis multi-tasking machine with integrated turning capabilities, will pull in visitors looking for an innovative and exceptional large component machining solution at this year’s event.

The machine, one of 16 being showcased by Mills, is making its UK debut at the event and will, according to the company not only prove to be a highlight of Mills’ stand but of the whole show.

Tony Dale, Mills CNC’s CEO said: “The Xios G MT is a big mill-turn machine. To appreciate its size – simply visit Mills’ stand: you literally can’t miss it.”

The machine is one in a range of Zayer multi-tasking bed mills now available from Mills CNC. The machine on show at MACH 2024 has large X-, Y- and Z-axis travels (4,000mm x 1,600mm x 2,000mm), and a sizeable worktable (2,000mm x 2,000mm) with a 12,000kg maximum table load that makes it ideal for machining big and heavy components for the aerospace, automotive, rail, energy, oil and gas sectors, as well as for large mould tool applications.

Machining flexibility is also ensured by the integration of a 1,500mm by 1,500mm built-in rotary table, a powerful 40kW/6,000rpm spindle a 5-axis/45⁰ milling head and a generously sized tool changer (up to 80 tools).

Despite its size, the Xios G MT is fast and accurate featuring 35m/minute rapids on its X-, Y- and Z-axes, and positional and repeatable accuracies of 0.008mm and 0.005mm respectively.

Although being showcased with a 45⁰ head (360,000 positions), the machine can be supplied with different head configurations (i.e. 30⁰ head or an electro-spindle 33kW/18,000rpm option) and a range of software apps (developed in-house by Zayer) to increase the machine’s potential and appeal.

Tony Dale concludes: “I am certain the Zayer Xios G MT will prove popular with MACH show visitors and substantiates our out-of-this-world stand theme and concept.”
