A job well done

The Bedfordshire Businesswoman of the Year 2009 is Andrea Rodney, co-director of subcontract machining company Hone-All Precision.

The Bedfordshire Businesswoman of the Year 2009 is Andrea Rodney, co-director of Leighton Buzzard-based subcontract machining company Hone-All Precision. The 24 employee business relocated recently to 20,000ft² fully refurbished premises in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, which provided the ideal opportunity to introduce various environmental initiatives, as well as significantly improving the process flow from raw material to finished component.

An independent judging panel commended Ms Rodney, who joined Hone-All in 1994, ‘for her passion and commitment to her business and its ongoing success, while constantly looking for new challenges'. The judging panel also pointed out that: “Andrea is a great example of what an ambassador for women competing in a male dominated industry can achieve.”

The award presentation was made by Jenny Tomsett, president of Bedfordshire Business Women, and took place in the Sculpture Gallery of Woburn Abbey. Ms Tomsett emphasised the not for profit organisation's aim of supporting and encouraging the development of women in business, adding that: “In the current climate supporting local businesses is very important and these awards are just one of the ways in which we can recognise some very special people who are excelling in what they do.”
