CMZ will feature a variety of CNC turning machines illustrating the comprehensive scope of its standard product range, including live demonstrations of six machines from its TC, TB and TL ranges. The show will also see the UK debut of the gantry loading version of CMZ's popular TC range. The featured machine, a TC25, is a 250mm diameter turning centre available with Y-axis, driven tooling and sub-spindle. Altogether the company produces 150 different models, including everything from basic 2-axis machines up to multi-axis gantry systems in sizes from 46mm bar up to 500mm chuck capacity. Models incorporate variants with that can include a Y-axis, driven tools, sub-spindles, CNC tailstocks, long and short bed configurations and gantry loading. There are also around 50 options for each model, including varying turret sizes and configurations, tailstocks, chuck diameters and bore and spindle powers, as well as control function options such as tool load monitoring and tool life management. “This means customers only have to buy the features they need,” says CMZ UK's managing director Keith Howell. “We sold two machines to a company that wanted a sub-spindle but didn't need driven tooling. With all the other manufacturers they looked at they had to have both – with CMZ's machine they could have exactly what they wanted as standard from a machine that was around £15,000 less expensive.” All machines are all built to a very high specification and use powerful Fanuc HVi drive motors. Spindle drives up to 48kW combined with 17kW driven tools give high machining power and a rigid construction, which includes box guideways on all but the smallest machines, gives the rigidity and stability to use this power, while maintaining accuracy, surface finish and tool life. CMZ is also one of the few companies to have upgraded its machines to the latest generation Fanuc 30 Series control. Visitors to the CMZ stand will also have the chance to get a taster of a new range of twin spindle, multi-turret machines, due to be launched in 2010 and which will go head to head with the leading Japanese brands.
