The OGP SmartScope CNC 670 from the Foston, Derbyshire, company has the ability to automatically complete inspection cycles up to 30% faster than a traditional CMM by utilising fully integrated CCD image capture, touch probe and laser scanning with automatic illumination settings. Most important is the capability to coordinate each respective measuring sensor unit that is applied within the cycle.
Advancing CMM technology and extending the application capability of OGP's proven non-contact and probe-based measurement, in-cycle scanning and data capture can be carried out with the new measuring centre, while the component remains static. Meanwhile, the XY moving bridge, which carries the vertical Z-axis, is programmed to select the appropriate measuring sensor which then operates to the same datum within the automated cycle according to the component feature to be checked.
The SmartScope CNC 670 has a measuring volume of 650mm in X, 670mm in Y and 200mm in Z with extension options to bring the vertical travel up to 300mm or 400mm. The rapid traverse in X and Y is 12m/minute.
The high resolution colour CCD camera has patented 12:1 AccuCentric zoom optics which incorporates auto-calibration after each change of magnification thus ensuring constant levels of accuracy. The camera has 356 level grey scale image processing and 10:1 sub-pixel resolution. Illumination is completely LED-based which includes a green substage, white coaxial TTL surface lighting and OGP's patented eight sector SmartRing which is a white light illuminator mounted around the lens.
The operating system is Microsoft Windows 7 with MeasureMind 3D MultiSensor which is able to provide full 3D capability and integration with the full array of different sensors and any rotary indexing accessories.
