A yearning for turning

With at least seven lathes and turning centres on display, Ward CNC will demonstrate how its machine portfolio can provide users with a wide variety machines to suit every turning demand.

With at least seven lathes and turning centres on display – several of them under power - Ward CNC will demonstrate how its machine portfolio can provide users with a wide variety machines to suit every turning demand. Five of the six machines will be from its Hyundai-Kia range, including the SKT 180 TTSY multi-tasking twin-/sub-spindle turning centre with Y-axis, which has a maximum turning diameter and length of 230mm and 700mm, respectively. The 65mm bar capacity machine has speeds on both spindles of 5,000rpm and features a 12 tool station on each turret. Travels in X, Z, ZB and Y are 165/190mm, 700mm, 720mm and 100mm, respectively, and rapid traverse rates in X, Z, ZB and Y are 20m/min, 40m/min, 40m/min and 7.5m/min, respectively. Also under power, the SKT 2100 multi-tasking mill/turn centre with Y axis has a maximum turning diameter of 240mm and length of 530mm. This 65mm bar capacity machine has spindle speeds of 4,000rpm (main spindle) and 6,000rpm (sub-spindle) and features a 12 tool station turret. Travels in X, Z, ZB and Y are 220mm, 550mm, 750mm and 80mm. Rapid traverse rates in X and Z are 36m/minute, 30m/minute in ZB and 10m/minute in Y. A third machine under power, the 65mm bar capacity SKT-200 2-axis lathe has a maximum turning diameter and length of 290mm and 300mm, respectively, spindle speeds of 4,000rpm from a 15kW motor, X and Z axis travels of 210mm and 330mm, respectively, with complementary traverse rates of 36m/min in both axes. The SKT-200 also benefits from a compact space saving design. Continuing the 2-axis theme, the SKT-400LC has a maximum turning diameter and length of 630mm and 2,150mm, respectively. This 117mm bar capacity machine has spindle speeds of 2,000rpm from a 37kW motor and X and Z axis travels of 320mm and 2,200mm, with traverse rates of 20m/min in both axes. Also from the Hyundai-Kia stable, the SKT-300 2-axis CNC lathe has a maximum turning diameter and length of 560mm and 720mm, respectively. Equipped with rear headstock support chuck and boring equipment, the Hankook Protec range of lathes has seen particular sales success in the oil and gas equipment sector and will be represented at MACH by the Protec 9NC x 4000 heavy duty flat bed lathe. This large capacity machine has a maximum turning diameter and length of 950mm and 3,845mm, respectively, plus spindle speeds of 630rpm from a 30kW motor. Travels in X and Z are 535mm and 3,845mm, and the rapid traverse rate in Z is 6m/minute. Completing Ward CNC's turning display – and also under power - will be the Hankook VTC-100 compact, high performance vertical lathe. This has a 1,000mm diameter table and a maximum turning diameter and height of 1,250mm and 800mm, respectively. Ward CNC
