£1 million investment for Leicestershire company

While some businesses may have delayed purchasing decisions because of economic uncertainty, Leicester-based ADS Laser Cutting, a medium sized engineering business, has invested in a new metal laser cutting machine from manufacturer Trumpf at a cost of £1 million. The investment will help ADS continue its growth plans and create new jobs locally.

The machine is a Trumpf 10kW 5030 TruLaser with a LiftMaster Compact loading/unloading unit which comes with features such as Detectline, CoolLine and Active Speed Control.

The new investment will allow ADS to cut mild steel up to 30mm thick, stainless steel up to 40mm, aluminium up to 30mm, brass up to 12mm and copper up to 16mm. The machine is particularly effective processing thin sheet and producing complex contours.

Company director, Duncan Keates commented: “This will keep us ahead in our markets and enable us to extend our capabilities. We have worked with Trumpf for several years and the quality of their lasers and support is excellent.”

Over the years laser cutting has grown significantly as an industry and ADS’s approach to provide everything from bespoke one off projects like point of sale displays for some of the World’s major cosmetic companies to volume projects like components for modular building balconies, means it can provide a complete solution for a range of customers.

Mr Keates, who started ADS Laser with his brother Stephen in 2005, added: “We have grown the business by listening to customers, supplying high quality products and solutions backed by excellent levels of service, but above all by employing great people.

“We have grown from a handful of people in 2005 to over 60 employees and this new laser cutter will propel us to over 70 next year. We have never been a company that stands still and we believe that ongoing investment is the only way to stay ahead of the curve in the marketplace.”

ADS Laser Cutting has locations in Wigston and Bruntingthorpe, Leicestershire. It provides metal laser cutting of a variety of metals from mild steel to aluminium, stainless steel and even brass. It precision folds metal, fabricates and finishes it – including rumbling, shot blasting and powder coating.
