AFRC announces new partnership deal with Quickgrind

The University of Strathclyde’s Advanced Forming Research Centre (AFRC) has announced cutting tool manufacturer Quickgrind as its latest Tier 2 member.

Quickgrind has an international reputation for providing solid carbide and high-speed steel cutting tools for the aerospace, automotive, medical and general engineering industries. This new partnership will enable the company to promote its products and services to the AFRC’s Tier 1 and Tier 2 members. In return, the company will provide the AFRC with its technology and consultancy support for the centre’s machining related research.

Ross Howell, managing director at Quickgrind, said: “Our new partnership arrives at an opportune time for Quickgrind as the AFRC goes through a period of significant growth and expansion. In turn, the AFRC will receive the benefits of our Quickgrind technical support and services which can be passed on to industry and its Tier 1 and Tier 2 members and partners.”

Crawford Cullen, manufacturing engineer at the AFRC said: “We are looking forward to engaging with Quickgrind on new projects in the future. Our new partnership is ideally suited to the growth and developments of the AFRC’s machining team as we strive to promote our machining capabilities to a wider market both within and outside Scotland.”
