Investment in a new Chinese operation is already paying dividends for a Leicestershire manufacturer of cleaning and maintenance products.

Arrow Solutions, which is based at a factory in Moira, has marked the first three months of trading in Shanghai with news that it has secured a string of new contracts to supply Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) and Beijing Metro.

The company is tapping into the Far East’s desire to become more environmentally conscious and has seen demand for a number of its products, including grease and oil remover Lotoxane.

Jonathan Lane, sales director at Arrow Solutions explained: “We had been seeing a lot of interest from China so took the decision to establish a real foothold in that territory. Significant investment has been channelled into creating Arrow Trading Shanghai and this has involved an office in the city, extensive warehousing space and recruitment of a team to provide sales and technical support to our growing client base.”

He continued: “Industry in the Far East is changing and it is now seriously looking at the products it uses and the impact they have on their staff and the environment. This represents a major opportunity for us and we believe we can be first to market with solutions that offer customers the answers they are demanding.”

Arrow Solutions (Shanghai) was officially launched at a recent event hosted by UK Trade and Investment and the China-Britain Business Council.

Attracting delegates from business, government and industry, the function was used to outline the company’s plans in China and how it is looking to work with industry to educate them on the benefits of adopting more environmentally friendly policies.
