Bystronic UK has been appointed as exclusive sales and service partner for the range of wide belt grinding machines from Hans Weber GmbH.

Known simply in the marketplace as the ‘Weber', the range of wide belt grinding machines manufactured in Kronach Germany covers applications for surface grinding, edge rounding and surface refinishing. Hans Weber also produces a range of machines for wet grinding as well as the woodworking and other associated industries.

Responsible exclusively for the metal finishing market, Bystronic UK aims to build on the strong company to company relationship established by Bystronic Sweden and Hans Weber over the past few years.

“Bystronic Sweden has found the machine range flexible and easy to use,” explains Georg Weber, a director at Hans Weber. “Many companies have come to realise that hand grinding should be a thing of the past and if the sharp corner left from the laser cutting process can be removed effectively, then edge preparation and subsequent wet painting can be achieved in a simple, consistent and cost effective way.”

Currently operating out of two sites in Kronach with 450 people, Hans Weber was first established in 1913. In 1928 the first slate grinding machines were developed for the local economy, and it was from this platform that the wood and metal finishing ranges were developed. The new building in 1973 was purpose built for the woodworking machinery range. It is now been fully utilised in conjunction with metalworking machinery assembly since 1983.

Weber machines can be set-up for conventional hard rubber covered grinding or ‘contact' roller as well as the innovative ‘bolt-beam' or the Weber DR planetary system. Working widths from 600mm to 1,650mm are standard with wider options available on request
