Big on travel

The NMV series from Mori Seiki was initially developed as a 5-axis machining centre which combined high speed, high precision machining and excellent operability.

The existing models in the series include the NMV5000 DCG, with maximum workpiece size of 700mm by 450mm and maximum loading capacity of 300kg and the NMV8000 DCG with the capability to handle workpiece sizes of diameter 1,000mm by 500mm and maximum loading capacity of 1,000kg.

Adding to the versatility of the range, Mori Seiki has announced the NMV3000 DCG with large travels of 500mm, 350mm and 510mm (XYZ). The new model features a maximum workpiece size of 350mm by 300mm and a loading capacity of 100kg with 150kg available as an option.

A useful feature on the machine is the C axis for integrated lathe operations, which along with the standard 150rpm is also available with 2.000rpm as an option. The Octagonal Ram Construction (ORCTM) ensures high precision and speed at the Z axis and DCG technology (Driven at the Centre of Gravity) allows for effective vibration control and improved acceleration. Additionally, the NMV3000 DCG comes with a Direct Drive Motor (DDM) in the B and C axis for enhanced dynamics and precision.

By employing Mori Seiki's original technologies, the NMV3000 DCG achieves high speed, high precision machining and for improved operability, the distance from the front of the machine to the table has been shortened to offer better accessibility and visibility than on previous models.

Optionally, the machine can be equipped with a large capacity AWC (Automatic Workpiece Changer) and a variety of tool storage capacity options, which allow long term, unmanned operation and high efficiency machining for multi item, small batch production.

Customers can select a suitable AWC depending on workpiece size from three options: 34 station, with a maximum workpiece size of 350mm diameter by 300mm; 120 station, capable of handling workpieces up 200mm diameter by 150mm and; 114 station flexible for workpieces of 200mm diameter by 150mm and 350mm diameter by 300mm. Customers can also choose their ideal magazine from a wide variety of tool storage capacities with 21 tools as standard, and 61, 91, 121, 160, 240, 320 tools as options.

The machine also comes equipped with the new Mapps IV controls from Mori Seiki as standard and the programming of complex surfaces is made possible via the integrated CAM software from Esprit.
