Automated metrology at MACH

As a global leader in the manufacture and supply of optical 3D metrology products, the Bruker Alicona stand will be of interest to visitors looking to enhance their measurement and quality assurance capabilities.

The stand will feature a selection of products from its range of optical metrology solutions that are used extensively in both tool measurement and the measurement of engineered surfaces.

The featured product, shown for the first time in the UK, will be the µCMM fitted with the pick and place automated loading system. The manufacturer says the µCMM has changed the face of measurement technology in industry and when combined with the 5-axis option and automated loading system enables the automatic critical inspection components with user influence.

The µCMM is a floor standing measurement system that can be used in both a production environment and the measurement room,. For those companies who do not have room for, or need such a large system there are other products on display that can accommodate those requirements.

The first of these is the G5 system fitted with the Advanced Real3D rotation device providing 5-axis movement. This instrument allows the full geometrical measurement of components in a compact bench mounted system that does not require any special operating conditions. It can be used both in production and also in a research and development environment.

To complete the comprehensive line up at the show there will be the InfiniteFocus SL system on display. InfiniteFocusSL is a cost-effective optical 3D measurement system for easy, fast and traceable measurement of form and finish on micro structured surfaces.

Users measure both form and roughness of components with a single system. In addition, colour images with high contrast and depth of focus are provided and the long working distance of up to 33mm in combination with its measurement field of 50mm x 50mm allows a wide range of applications.

Measurements are achieved in seconds and features, such as a coaxial laser for quick and easy focusing, further increase usability. With an automation interface, InfiniteFocusSL is also applicable for fully automatic measurement in production.

All products work on the well-established FocusVariation principle providing dense point based data in addition to full colour images. This data can be compared against CAD data to verify production methods and also used to effectively measure wear or variation from standard.
