A South Derbyshire engineering firm has been officially named as one of the fastest-growing and most dynamic in the UK.

The Carfulan Group has been picked to appear in the London Stock Exchange’s ‘1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain’ report 2018, a publication that celebrates the nation’s most outstanding small to medium-sized businesses.

To make the cut, companies are required to show consistent revenue growth over a minimum of three years, significantly outperforming their industry peers.

Made up of OGP UK, SYS Systems, Zoller UK and Vicivision UK, the Carfulan Group provides the full range of the most advanced manufacturing technology solutions available and employs around 50 people – a staffing increase of 400% since 2002.

With a current annual turnover approaching £15 million and more than 700 group customers, it specialises in the supply and service of multi-sensor inspection equipment, 3D printing technology, tool pre-setting and inspection devices and turned-part measurement solutions, working with world-leading companies across aerospace, automotive, oil and gas, medical, education and design.

Nikhil Rathi, CEO at London Stock Exchange Plc, said: “We warmly congratulate all of the companies identified in this year’s ‘1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain’ report.

“Five years on from the first report, it continues to demonstrate the strength and diversity of British businesses across the country. These dynamic companies are the backbone of our economy, playing an important role in the UK’s ability to innovate, export and grow.

Carfulan group managing director Chris Fulton said: “It’s an honour to be named as one of the UK’s most inspiring companies and it’s really a testament to the passion and dedication of the talented people we have working for us.

“There is a huge demand for UK-based engineering, with growing confidence in the sector, which has enabled us to identify and specialise in the full range of complementary, front-to-back manufacturing technologies.

“To match our growth ambitions we opened our Innovation Centre in Foston in early 2015, a state-of-the-art purpose-built showroom facility housing the very latest technology supporting product development, training and testing. It has given our engineers the scope to innovate and push boundaries more than ever before and, consequently, they’ve been in greater demand.

“We are constantly looking at adding new and beneficial technologies to the group portfolio and, guided by our ‘2020 Vision,’ we have a detailed and immediate roadmap to success.”
