The annual track day hosted by Ceratizit WNT and XYZ Machine Tools, under the guidance of Sam Burman of WNT Burman Racing and her fellow instructors, proved to be a hit with the numerous guests who turned up to test their motorcycle handling skills on the Lincolnshire circuit. The event raised several thousands of pounds for The British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research UK.

The event followed the now familiar format, with those who wanted to arriving the evening before for the traditional track walk and fish and chip supper. The following morning track time was delayed by mist, but once under way the instructors, Ms Burman, Lee Jackson, who holds the motorcycle lap record holder at Cadwell Park, Kyle Ryde who is back in the UK to compete in the British Superbike Championship after a couple of seasons in world supersport along with Phil Wakefield and Bruce Dunn led the way for a day of action-packed track time. With a break for lunch it was time for Northwest 200 Superstock 1000 winner Peter Hickman who diverted to Cadwell en-route to the Isle of Man TT races, to switch to four wheels and provide ‘hot-laps’ for a small group of guests in the circuit’s BMW safety car.

Another feature of the day is the awarding of the Colin Askey Memorial Prize, given in memory of this long-standing friend of the event, who was sadly killed during a motorcycle tour of Italy in 2016. This year’s prize went jointly to Alan Walker and Andrew Monkhouse of Complete Engineering Services in recognition of the business celebrating its 20th anniversary and also its involvement in motorcycle sponsorship.

Ms Burman commented: “I really enjoy these days as it’s great to see so many people with a smile on their face. Those that want a bit of tuition can get it, with the instructors doing a great job throughout the day. From me a massive thank you to all, Ceratizit WNT and XYZ Machine Tools for supporting the day, and the customers for making it such a fun and enjoyable event. One highlight for me was one guest, who finally joined us after six years of being invited, who went away having had a thoroughly great day.”
