For manufacturers involved in the tool and die industry, TaeguTec has now launched its new ChasePlusMill Mini line of milling cutters – said to increase productivity and cycle times in a stable cutting environment.

Developed in line with the company's R&D program through collaboration with global customers, the new line of cutters complements TaeguTec's existing ChasePlusMill series. The new series incorporates small inserts that can be mounted in higher quantities to give a closer tooth pitch which improves productivity and feed rates. There are four cutting edges per insert.

The ChasePlusMill Mini line is a flexible cutter range that can replace a number of cutters with the capability of handling facing, shouldering, straight ramping, helical ramping and cavity machining. To further enhance productivity rates, the geometry of the cutter and its corresponding inserts provide effective chip evacuation and low cutting forces that have a low tendency to insert chipping – further enhanced with an internal coolant system.

The series has shank diameter options of 16mm, 20mm, 25mm and 32mm with corresponding cutting diameters of 16mm, 20mm, 21mm, 25mm, 26mm, 30mm, 32mm, 33mm and 40mm with anything from two to six inserts per cutter depending upon diameter selection. The series has an overall shank length from 100 to 220mm that connects with either a modular or face mill type cutting head.

Regardless of cutting head, the series is currently available with TaeguTec's TT9080, TT8030 and TT7080 coated insert grades, enabling the cutter to comfortably machine carbon steels, alloy steels, pre-hardened, hardened, stainless and mould and die steels as well as cast iron with a hardness level beyond 50HRc. The productivity of the ChasePlusMill Mini line sees it work at cutting speeds from 80 to 220m/minute with a 1mm feed per tooth rate on depths of cut up to 1mm.
