Comprehensive machining options

Visitors to the TW Ward CNC Machinery (Ward CNC) hospitality stand at MACH will be able to discuss every machine available from the Sheffield-based supplier’s comprehensive and cost-competitive range of machines.

These include: Hankook horizontal and vertical lathes; Hartford double column and open fronted vertical machining centres, horizontal boring and milling machines; Hyundai Wia horizontal and vertical turning centres, horizontal machining centres, horizontal boring and milling centres; Soraluce travelling column and travelling table milling centres and flexible manufacturing systems; Takisawa Japan single and twin spindle robot gantry turning cells, multi-spindle turn-mill centres and elliptical piston turning machines, and Takisawa Taiwan CNC turning centres and lathes.

Importantly, Ward CNC’s Midlands and South showroom in Redditch is just 20 minutes away from the NEC, enabling visitors to see representatives of the extensive machine ranges.

As the sole UK distributor for these machine tool manufacturers, and with large in-stock availability, Ward CNC’s extensive experience extends from the supply of single standalone machine installations through to large turnkey project work. This can include small turned parts through to installations involving large capacity milling/machining centres for complex, single set-up machining routines.

Ward CNC enjoys close relationships with its extensive customer base of OEMs and precision subcontract suppliers across most engineering sectors and especially aerospace, oil and gas, construction equipment, defence, medical, automotive and power generation.

The Hankook 2- and 3-axis single column vertical boring and turning (VTL) range embraces turning diameters of 1,250mm to 3,000mm and turning heights up to 3,000mm, with pallet changer options. The 2- and 3-axis double column VTLs extend from 3,000mm to 6,000mm turning diameters and up to 3,000mm turning height.

Hankook flatbed CNC lathes cover swings over the bed from 650mm to 1,300mm and up to 8,000mm between centres. Large spindle bore models are available up to 440mm diameter.

The extensive range of Hartford machines include: open fronted VMCs from 500mm to 4,100mm in the X-axis, with machines having high-speed linear guideway ranges as well as heavy-duty, high power models with heavy-duty box guideways; double-column vertical and five face machining centres from 2,000mm to 8,000mm in X, plus automatic indexing head and high-speed linear guideway models with DDI spindles; live spindle, cross bed type horizontal boring and milling machines with up to 3,000mm in X and 2,000mm in Y, and capable of accommodating loads of 12,000kg, with live milling and boring spindle and built-in NC table.

Hyundai Wia horizontal and vertical turning centres and CNC lathes are manufactured in a wide range of 2- and 3-axis platen-type versions with Y-axis and twin- and sub-spindle types, as well as ram and compact turret type 2- and 3-axis turning centres.

The Hyundai Wia open fronted vertical machining centres offer from 500mm to 3,000mm in X and are supplied in high-speed linear guideway and heavy-duty box guideway versions. In addition, twin- and multi-pallet horizontal machining centres, with pallets from 400mm to 1,200mm, are available.

A range of high quality, travelling table and cross bed type horizontal boring and milling machines are also manufactured by Hyundai Wia supplied with live spindles.

Ward CNC’s Soraluce range includes: travelling column, fixed bed milling centres with bed/table lengths up to 12,000mm and X- and Y-axis travels to 10,500mm and 2,600mm, respectively. A variety of universal and orthogonal auto milling heads, automatic tool changers and NC rotary tables are optional.

A similar range of optional heads, tool changers and rotary tables are offered with Soraluce travelling table milling centres. These have table sizes from 2,200mm by 850mm to 5,860mm by 1,200mm and Y-axis travels up to 1,800mm.

The heavy-duty cross bed-type horizontal boring and milling centres, provided with live spindles, include machines with table sizes up to 2,500mm by 3,000mm and able to handle loads of 60,000kg.

Covering all turning and turn-mill requirements Ward CNC also offers an extensive range of Takisawa machines. The Japanese manufactured models offer a wide choice of multi-tasking turn-mill centres, high precision turning centres, twin and single spindle turning centres with robot gantry loaders, plus piston turning machines.

From the Taiwanese Takisawa division, a comprehensive range of CNC single and multi-spindle turn-mill centres, turning centres, as well as small, medium and heavy-duty two and multi-axis CNC lathes are available.
