The L20-VIII and the L32-VIII are high precision CNC lathes which are both flexible and versatile enough to meet high production demands. Dawson Shanahan’s long-term commitment to quality and service is helping to swell its order books and necessitating investment in new capital equipment to keep up with global demand for its products.
The Citizen L32-VIII sliding headstock CNC automatic lathe is a 7-axis model and was a logical choice for Dawson Shanahan. With its modular design, up to 30 tools can be mounted at any one time. Supported by a high level of control features, the machine is rapid in operation, improving both productivity and profitability.
Similarly, the L20-VIII also offers increased flexibility with up to 37 tool capability. This lathe has the ability to switch between guide bushing type and non-guide bushing type. The guide bushing can be fitted or removed easily and quickly.
The L20-VIII can also be used as a regular guide bushing type lathe when machining long, thin workpieces and as a guide bushing-less type reducing material wastage.
The new machines are part of an ongoing programme of investment and expansion, which underpins Dawson Shanahan’s long-term goal to grow organically by at least 15% year on year. Key to this growth is the company’s export business to Europe, North America and the Far East, which currently accounts for around 80% of all orders.
Joint managing director Les Reeves commented: “Our customers have always been impressed with the quality of output from our existing Citizen machine and we’ve been equally impressed with its reliability and precision.
“With these new Citizens and further technology coming through later this year, we are well on the way to meet growing business demand.”
