Eclipse Magnetics is celebrating the success of its apprentices Luke Clarkson and Daniel Ward, who, despite the pandemic, have excelled in their performance both at work and at University.

Luke Clarkson has recently had his review from University and received results back from the first year of his Apprenticeship, receiving a First, two 2:1s and a 2:2 in a work-based project, which was unfortunately heavily affected by the pandemic.

“We also received excellent feedback from the University on Luke's performance, particularly the comprehensive preparation work he carried out for his review – it was apparently the best they'd seen from any apprentice so far,” enthused Daniel Meekings, engineering manager at Eclipse Magnetics. “Luke still has two years of his course to complete and should be returning to University at the end of September to resume his studies alongside his apprenticeship.”

Electrical design engineer apprentice Daniel Ward's review was delayed because of the pandemic – but the results are now in and he is celebrating Firsts across the board, including a highly impressive 99% in his Professional Engineering Practice module.

Mr Ward’s apprenticeship at Eclipse Magnetics involves on the job training including AutoCAD and PLC processing in addition to classroom-led learning at Sheffield Hallam University. Both contribute to gaining the required knowledge and skills to support progression to skilled electrical design engineer status in the future, including a Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Daniel Meekings concluded: “It's really important for us that we continue to support our apprentices throughout the pandemic and we are delighted with their achievements. We congratulate Daniel and Luke on their success so far and wish them all the best as they progress through the duration of their apprenticeships.”
