Editor’s comment: February 2018

Don’t blink – MACH 2018 is nearly upon us!

The show, which will take place from 9-13 April at the NEC in Birmingham, will be breaking with recent traditions as it moves away from halls 4 and 5 into a somewhat more linear format, occupying halls 6, 7, 17, 18, 19 and 20.

In many ways this makes sense and creates a more level playing field – quite literally. Before, very generally, it tended to be the case that the big machine tool companies occupied hall 5, with hall 4 being an eclectic mix of everything else. Now all exhibitors will be on a single level with more entry/exit points. Sounds like a good idea to me. Post-show feedback from exhibitors and visitors alike will be particularly interesting this year.

As with previous MACH events, PES will be running three preview issues – March, Mid-March and the Show Issue in April. If you’re exhibiting at the show, these issues – in conjunction with our website and social media channels – are a great way to tell visitors to MACH what they can expect to find on your stand.

So this is an open invitation to send your press releases in to me for potential inclusion in our MACH issues. As well as our normal circulation of more than 15,000 recipients, there will also be an additional 4,000 copies of our April issue distributed at the show itself.

Editorial guidelines? Well there are one or two. Press releases must be MACH related and detail what visitors can expect to find on your stand. Try and keep the text educational rather than blatantly commercial. Highlight all the positives potential buyers will enjoy if they invest in your technology. And please do include a high-resolution image or two to support the words.

Did I mention pdfs? No pdfs or embedded images please. Stick with Word, or email body text with jpeg attachments.

The PES team will be out in force at MACH. We’ll either be cruising the aisles or on our 60m² stand – H19-104. Please do drop by and see us – a warm welcome is guaranteed.

Before I forget, here’s the ever-important editorial deadline dates for our MACH issues. Things can get manic putting these together as they’re pretty much back to back. Please try and stick to the dates – once the train starts moving, it’s very hard to stop. There’s usually plenty of room to include everyone but we do need to get your submissions in time please.

Those dates:

March issue: editorial deadline: 9th February
Mid-March issue: editorial deadline: 23rd February
April issue: editorial deadline: 9th March

Here’s hoping for a great show. See you there!
