The company is celebrating the sale of its first Lissmac SMD123RE grinding, deburring and edge radiusing machine to East Anglian manufacturer Electronic Metalwork Services – an established business with a reputation for providing cost-effective, precision sheetmetal components and assemblies for the aerospace, communications, and electronics industries.
EMS’ managing director Julian Long wanted to improve both quality and productivity so decided to update the company’s aging wide belt grinding machine to the newest technology with the ability to grain, deburr and edge radius. This search took Mr Long to a number of major European shows to see what products were on offer; it transpired that the Lissmac SMD123RE was the machine best suited for EMS’ needs.
“Unlike other machines in the market, the SMD123RE with its super small footprint, 1,600 x 1,900 x 1,950mm (W, D, H), would fit easily into our workshop and the lack of a vacuum pump makes the machine less expensive to run keeping running costs to a minimum,” Mr Long enthused.
The ability to process smaller pieces is achieved through years of development by Lissmac on its ‘sticky’ conveyor belt technology allowing processing of parts as small as 30mm x 50mm x 0.5mm thick all the way up to 950mm wide and 50mm thick.
