Get it sorted

Kaltenbach's KF series of plate processing centres are now available with a programmable robot pick and place system for the rapid removal, sorting and stacking of profiled parts.

Shown for the first time at the IPS2011 Event in May this year, the new system readily integrates with the latest versions of the KF1606, single torch head and KF2506 double torch head machines. Using oxy-acetylene or high speed plasma for optimum cutting quality, KF machines accept a plate material thickness of 6mm to 60mm with maximum plate footprints of 1,600mm by 6,000mm (KF1606) and 2,500mm by 6,000mm (KF2506), with a 12,000mm material length option for both machines.

Whilst the machines are fitted with an automated tilting output table to auto sort smaller finished parts into a traversable container under the output side, the addition of a robotic pick and place system takes finished material sorting and stacking to a more refined level.

The robot arm moves on a base rail – the length of which can be supplied to suit customer preferences. Fitted with a magnetic head, the robot readily extracts a finished profiled part then rapidly transports and stacks it within a pre-programmed storage position. The size of the material sorting area can be programmed to suit customer preferences.

As standard KF machines have an automated six tool capacity disc magazine with a second unit 12 tool total option, which combines with Lantek software to provide an array of data input and programming options, including automatic or manual nesting. HSS, carbide and solid carbide tool compliant, the machines' fast 30,000mm/minute positioning spindle rapidly drills holes from 8mm to 50mm diameter and taps and counterbores complex hole patterns.

Fully DSTV compliant, drilling feed speeds, particularly with solid carbide, are rapid. Optional features include the contour marking of alphanumeric data or component boundary markings for add-ons.
