Körber Schleifring UK of Honiley reports ‘a fantastic response' to the display of Walter tool grinders and tool measuring machines at last month's GrindTec exhibition in Germany – including several orders for machines placed by UK-based customers.

Sales director, Neil Whittingham said: “The event far exceeded expectations with 40% more visitor leads and a 23% increase in machine orders for Walter and Ewag products than the previous GrindTec in 2008.”

For example, Marlor Tooling of Peterborough ordered a Helitronic Power and this investment has been made, says the company's managing director Kevin Taylor, in response to both rising customer demand and as part of the company's machine replacement policy which means no machine is older than nine years.

Marlor currently has four Helitronic Powers (two equipped with a 40 tool disc loader for unmanned/lights out machining), one Power Production (also equipped with a 40-tool disc loader) and a Helitronic Vision with production loader, as well as a Helicheck Basic tool measuring machine. Its new Walter Helitronic Power will also be supplied with a 40 tool disc loader.

Indeed, Mr Taylor's confidence in the future is also demonstrated by his imminent purchase of etching equipment and a grinding wheel dressing unit in addition to the possible installation of a tool polishing system.
