Seco Tools (UK)’s ‘Inspiration through Innovation’ open house that took place at the company’s Technology Centre from 10-11 October 2017 was a ‘huge success’ with over 700 visitors attending the event over the two days, the company reports.

Now in its fourth year, Inspiration through Innovation has become one of the UK’s premier annual advanced manufacturing best-practice events and is a firm favourite with technical partners and UK and Irish component manufacturers alike.

This time around, as in previous years, Inspiration through Innovation 2017 had something for everyone. The main highlights included:

  • 11 machining demonstrations involving innovative and advanced machine tools, tooling technologies, CAD/CAM software systems and workholding, metalworking fluids and metrology solutions

  • Nine best-practice seminars, each led by an industry expert

  • Over 50 technical partners each showcasing their latest products, services and technology solutions to visitors

In addition, Seco also promoted a number of its own recently-introduced business solutions and product innovations from the purpose-built Seco pavilion – an area specially designed for the open house.

Seco’s strategic marketing, products and services manager, Mike Fleming commented: “We were delighted by visitor turnout and by the commitment and response shown from all our technical partners.”

One of those technical partners was Stewart Coull, managing director of Jemtech, the exclusive distributor of Blaser Swisslube metalworking fluids in the UK and Ireland, and the company responsible for the design, manufacture and supply of Oracle fluid management systems.

“We have attended Seco’s Inspiration through Innovation open houses every year, and I can honestly say that the 2017 event has been the best yet. We have been impressed with the volume and type of enquiries from visitors and, the machining demonstration we helped organise with Grob, Open Mind, Nikken and Seco also generated significant interest.”

It was a similar situation with Thame Workholding – a company that has supported Seco’s Inspiration through Innovation open houses for the past four years: “We have recently introduced a number of new workholding solutions into the market and used the event to help promote them to our target audiences. Our attendance has generated a number of genuine and serious enquiries which we are now actively following up.”

Exhibiting for the first time was US-based MachineMetrics. It’s co-founder and partner is Eric Fogg: “I was very impressed. The event provided the ideal opportunity to meet with UK and Irish manufacturers, and for us to demonstrate our machine monitoring software solutions to a knowledgeable and committed audience.”

The final word goes to Seco’s managing director, Richard Jelfs: “Our objective with Inspiration through Innovation has always been to demonstrate to visitors and partners alike that significant improvements in productivity, quality and performance can be best achieved through collaboration and by sharing best practice.

“This year we wanted the event to be bigger and better than previous open houses – and I think we succeeded.”
