The all new Flexible Intelligent Gauge (Flex-i-Gauge) is a one piece symmetrical design CMM that has been designed and constructed using the latest CNC machine tool technology to perform dimensional inspection on the manufacturing floor.

The new Flex-i-Gauge Shop-Floor CMM from Coord3 has been developed for the production shop and will perform the most demanding production gauging applications.

With a minimum footprint Flex-i-Gauge offers a generous measuring volume of 600 x 560 x 500mm. The horizontal bearing ways are completely enclosed and fully protected with no exposed cabling. High resolution glass measuring scales provide a thermally inert measuring accuracy and open access to the measurement volume ensures ergonomic operator loading or applied automation.

The new Flex-i-Gauge is only available in the UK from Measurement Solutions, a leading provider of CMM solutions and services. Managing director Iain Caville is excited by the opportunities that this new concept provides.

Flex-i-Gauge can be supplied with any of the full range of Renishaw touch trigger or tactile scanning probes. An integral styli change rack can also be mounted to the rear of the machine structure with no erosion of the available measuring volume.

The Flex-i-Gauge is also available with a choice of measuring software solutions configured to the needs of the user. These can include a one-touch ‘Program Launch' that allows the machine to be used by unskilled operators. Part programs can be programmed directly from CAD either on or offline, and can include fully customizable inspection reports to provide only the information needed to monitor both individual part quality and process capability. Measurement Solutions can also offer a complete turnkey solution with measuring programs provided, drastically reducing the time required to fully utilise the machine in a production environment.

Relocating the Flex-i-Gauge to a new point of inspection on the shopfloor is also easily handled by one person using a standard pallet truck. Integral anti-vibration levelling feet ensure rapid set-up at the new gauging station location.
