Investing in nesting  

Since its launch in 2011, NestFab has commanded a strong following in technical textile cutting applications where material costs are high and even small improvements in material efficiency can add up to large cost savings over the course of a year.

The latest version has a greater focus on nesting for metalcutting work with particular highlights being a powerful new importer supporting the latest CAD software, new PDF production reports to aid with part identification during production along with Ultra-Performance, the all new nesting engine which uses smart tiling technology to find the most efficient arrangement of repeating patterns to obtain maximum time and material savings.

Glenn Whitwell, co-owner of Efficient Software explains: “Our goal has always been to produce nests that look like they were made by a skilled person but we wanted to do it better, faster and with more consistency. We believe we have accomplished this in NestFab V2.”

Also important has been the company’s commitment to making its products integrate with other software enabling customers to gain the benefits of NestFab without the need to replace large portions of existing software infrastructure or making changes to operating procedures.

Mr Whitwell continues: “Our products have been designed to be as easy to use as possible so anyone can pick up the software and get excellent results from the outset with little or no training and, with our new Ultra-Performance nesting mode, even clients with smaller production volumes can see a return on their investment within months rather than years.”

Efficient Software is a privately owned software company based in the UK. Its co-founders, Glenn Whitwell and Robert Hellier successfully ran their former business which was founded to commercialise their PhD research into automatic nesting in partnership with the University of Nottingham.

In 2014, Messrs Whitwell and Hellier undertook a management buyout of the business and created Efficient Software to better reflect their ambitions for developing the most accessible yet powerful nesting solutions.
