Irish machine tool open house delivers success

The open house held at Kildare-based Premier Machine Tools in March proved an undoubted success.

The open house held at Kildare-based Premier Machine Tools from 6-8 March 2012 to celebrate the opening of its new 3,500ft² showroom proved an undoubted success with a number of machines and ancillary equipment being sold.

As one of Ireland's leading machine tool agents, Premier Machine Tool exhibited CNC turning centres from Tornos UK, CMM equipment from Zeiss, projectors and vision systems from Baty, Willemin mill/turn centres, Amsonic component cleaning systems, Style machining centres and Seco cutting tools. The diverse selection of product ranges drew in over 90 visitors to the three day event which resulted in 12 positive machine tool enquiries, the sale of one Style machining centre plus sales of three Baty vision and projector systems.

As Premier's managing director Peter Dwyer commented: “There hasn't been a showing of such diverse machine tools in Ireland since the last Enquip exhibition in 2006. With an event that is backed up by in-house training and local applications and service support for all brands, Irish manufacturers were keen to see what we have to offer.

“There was significant interest in the 8-axis Willemin machining centres with turning capability and we have five live and positive enquiries for Tornos CNC turning centres,” he continued. “The interest in the Tornos Delta and Gamma machines came primarily from sliding head workshops and subcontractors that are new to Tornos. This interest was based around the capabilities of the machines, the guide bushless operation for fixed and sliding head work and additionally the support network that we can offer as a company based in Ireland.

“Over the coming weeks we will be working closely with the manufacturers to convert these leads into positive business,” Mr Dwyer concluded. “We'll also be hosting a further event in the autumn to exhibit the machine tools that we couldn't show this time round.”
