After a very successful week, selling all the machines on its stand at MACH, Haas Automation ended the show on a real high note with the last machine being sold at 3.30pm on Friday – half an hour before the show closed.

The company featured 12 machines, including examples from the American manufacturer's range of toolroom machines, turning centres, vertical machining centres. All the machines could be seen performing representative metal cutting demonstrations, machining three tonnes of material throughout the 5-day event. Making debut appearances were the DT-1 drill and tap machine, the ST-20 and ST-30 turning centres and the new generation of 2010 vertical machining centres.

"We were a bit sceptical about MACH this year," said managing director Nick Remington, “however, I'm over the moon with our results.

“Having sold 60 machines in the eight weeks leading up to the show, we were hesitant about the potential success at the exhibition itself. The attendance figures are reportedly down circa 18% on MACH 2008, but conversely our records show that we had an increase in footfall of more than 20% on 2008 which saw us sell over 70 machines that month alone. The next few weeks are going to be busy for us, as we process the 1,200 leads generated by the show.

“Our two new sales managers, Pete Malecki and Graham Cherry only joined the company in the week prior to MACH, but each sold machines at the show, which is a great start to what will hopefully be long and successful careers with Haas. The icing on the cake for us was winning the trophies for ‘Best Service & Support' and ‘Best Entry Level Machine' at a national awards ceremony held at the NEC. Three of our customers also won awards, so it was a great result for Haas.”
