UK machine tool supplier Kyal, based in Market Harborough, Leicestershire has appointed Kevin Jones as its new UK sales manager.

Joining the Leicestershire business at the start of September, Mr Jones started with an immediate trip to EMO Hannover to investigate the new innovations from principal suppliers WFL Technologies, Weiler, Hembrug and Willemin Macodel.

With over 35 years industry experience, Mr Jones started his career as a shopfloor apprentice and progressed through several prestigious machine shops prior to moving into application engineering with a well-known machine tool builder.

After his time on the shopfloor and subsequently as an applications engineer, he moved into machine tool sales, spending over 25 years working with several world leading machine tool builders and earning a reputation for understanding and delivering the most suitable solutions for the end users.

Commenting upon Mr Jones’ appointment, managing director Simon Pollard said: “I worked closely with Kevin many years ago and his attention to detail, relentless work ethic and expertise in all facets of machine tools and the manufacturing industry made this appointment an obvious choice.

“Kevin has joined Kyal Machine Tools to underpin our already impressive sales growth in recent years and to enhance customer experience and understanding of the potential of the high-end solutions available from Kyal Machine Tools.

“Kevin has years of experience in dealing with the bespoke demands of the aerospace, motorsport, medical, automotive, defence and oil & gas industries, which are all key markets for our high-end brands.

Kyal’s portfolio is very specialised and targeted to the specific applications of end users. For example, the WFL Millturn Technologies brand is fully focused on high-end mill/turn ‘one-hit’ high added-value manufacturing, whereas our Hembrug turning centres are purposely to produce micron precision parts.

Additionally, the Swiss built Willemin-Macodel brand is at the cutting edge of made-to-measure machining solutions for complex, very high precision workpieces.

Mr Pollard concluded: “With such tailored solutions, an engineer of Kevin’s experience is a necessity for a business like Kyal; but more importantly a prerequisite for dealing with our prestigious blue-chip customer base.”
