Learn and lunch: a winning combination from SolidCAM

The workshops were introduced in line with consumer demand and feedback which highlighted a need for a more practical, hands-on, shop-floor experience for enquiring engineers. Conducted in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, the events allow partners and engineers to network, discuss and witness first-hand the latest technological advancements available in the manufacturing sector.

SolidCAM UK opened the Technology Centre in 2018 to stay ahead in a competitive and fast moving marketplace by ensuring the latest technologies are tested and proven out in-house. Customers benefit from industry tested methods and just as importantly, knowledge that they are used with the right tooling and workholding for the best advice with their collective partners.

A number of SolidCAM’s partners were invited to attend to showcase their products, services and expertise: Romi Machines UK demonstrated its CNC machining capabilities; Quickgrind and MSC Industrial advised on cutting tools options; Schunk Intec guided attendees with workholding possibilities; CG Tech demonstrated CNC simulation ideas; and Blum-Novotest presented in-process inspection concepts.

Live cutting demonstrations were run throughout the event using a Romi D-800 VMC and a Romi GL 240M so that attendees could see the full potential of the SolidCAM CAD/CAM suite – including the patented iMachining technology – said to extend tool life significantly and provide machining time reductions of more than 70%.
