Mori Seiki has developed a training system called ‘Education On Demand (EOD) for users of its machine tools customers around the world. In recent years, the number of customers who face difficulty in providing technical training for their employees has grown due to the advancement and complexity of machine tools. EOD has been developed in response to the needs from those customers. EOD is a new human resource online development tool which precisely reproduces machine operation systems by effectively using interactive graphics, allowing users to gain the basic skills and knowledge required for operational purposes. The tool is available for use with NL, NH, NMV, NT, DuraVertical and DuraTurn series machines. Each course consists of several chapters regarding machine operation and safety with each chapter containing concise explanatory sections and comprehensive quizzes to ensure concepts are fully understood before moving onto the next section. Interactive graphics are used to enhance the course content – for example, if a user clicks the door on the screen, the door opens as it would in a real life situation. Users can learn at anytime, anywhere, 24 hours a day, seven days a week at a pace that suits the operator. All that is required is an internet connection. EOD is available in eight languages – Japanese, English, German, Italian, French, Spanish, Chinese and Thai, and customers purchasing machines covered by the courses will receive two complementary licenses.
