Less manual rework with latest software release

The new Tebis CAM solution for automated multi-axis deburring is said to enable users to dramatically reduce manual reworking on components.

Fabian Jud, Tebis product manager explains: "Many companies still deburr manually. With our solution, which is suitable for machining with ball or tapered cutters, the NC programmer automatically generates the toolpaths in the CAD/CAM software – deburring is performed by the machine.

“The new solution is extremely simple. It is fully integrated in Tebis template technology. Preparation and milling functions are optimally harmonised.”

With regards to the user interface, customers can now save time with the Tebis 4.0 R7 update. There will be a new way to transfer user configurations which will include easier methods to transfer toolbars, work environments and other user settings from a previous release with the click of a button.

The new updates in the importing STEP data interface will be used to specify whether to include covered geometries and axes systems as well as references in the import. This will also add more efficiency in importing small structures.

Concerning the preparation for manufacturing, all sharp edges in a part can be detected with this new devised function that stores and generates edge surfaces with a structure for optimal preparation of deburring with NC machine templates. This function will create the outline surfaces for cutting and restricting dies with a step relief at any cutting angle.

Users can now machine edges with ball or tapered cutters using the new 5-axis deburring function. Practical toolpaths can be quickly and easily created for deburring with automatic tilt direction calculation and automatic avoidance of shank and toolholder collisions.

3D surface machining will also have a sorting strategy which allows users to organise the paths in a more efficient way. The paths can be further sorted from outside to inside in the ‘axis parallel’ strategy. This is said to provide a perfect surface finish in every situation.

Another offering in Release 7 will be the residual stock analyses in the Job Manager. This function further enhances the analysis function to obtain results directly from the Tebis NC Job Manager for ease of use in understanding exactly how much residual stock material is left on a component.
