Since then, he has worked for many metrology equipment suppliers delivering high value inspection solutions designed to increase productivity through quality control in the automotive, aerospace, power generation, medical and precision engineering sectors.
The breadth of measuring and reverse engineering knowledge he has gained during that period is vast, covering articulated-arm as well as conventional CMMs, automated 3D laser scanning, white light scanning, inline automotive inspection, laser tracking, laser radar metrology, industrial photogrammetry and satellite navigation systems.
Mr Shickell holds a professional diploma in manufacturing from The University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), Trafford Park. He was also chairman of metrology – measurement equipment of the Gauge and Tool Makers Association (GTMA) from 2013-2016.
LK also develops associated programming and control software for tactile and 3D laser inspection designed to raise efficiency in the inspection department, improve the quality of data collected, reduce measuring cycle times and accelerate time to market for new products.
