Matsuura donates vital CPR equipment to community first responders

Matsuura Machinery, based in Coalville, Leicestershire has donated cutting edge CPR training equipment to its local group of first responders covering North West Leicestershire.

Matsuura has purchased 12 ‘Little Anne QCPR’ manikins, which will be used for training purposes. They use the latest in digital technology featuring a gaming element and feedback. This helps instructors improve both CPR training quality, classroom efficiency and learner engagement.

In the UK there are over 30,000 cardiac arrests a year outside of a hospital – in homes and communities – where the emergency medical services attempt resuscitation. However, less than one in ten victims of cardiac arrest survive to be discharged from hospital. In some cases, CPR can double the chances of survival.

Anthony Parkes, North West Leicestershire’s Community First Responder commented: “As a team of first responders we’re delighted with Matsuura’s donation of the CPR dummies. It allows us to make sure our team of volunteers and the wider community are trained using the very latest equipment to ultimately help save lives.”

Roger Howkins, managing director at Matsuura Machinery added: “The work this team of volunteers do in our community is amazing and we wanted to help play a part in ensuring that those trained become lifesavers. We intend to run CPR training courses with Matsuura staff to help raise awareness about recognising a cardiac arrest and what to do until trained people arrive to take over.”
