Matsuura Machinery has announced the appointment of three new members of staff to its Spindle Department.

Paul Godfrey will be joining as spindle build engineer. Mr Godfrey is an experienced tool fitter and CNC machinist, having served in aerospace and power generation industry sectors.

Rhys Buxton will also join as apprentice spindle build engineer. Prior to joining Matsuura, Mr Buxton undertook his apprenticeship at a precision machining company – studying machining and calibration. Mr Buxton is working for his BTEC Level 3/NVQ3 in Engineering.

Sam Clegg will start as a technical support engineer. He previously worked as a toolmaker and in machine tool sales. Mr Clegg will be office based, taking frontline customer telephone queries and working with the in-house team to maintain the efficiency of the Spindle Facility’s operations and processes.

Pictured also is Charlie Bond, spindle build engineer. Although starting with Matsuura a little over a year ago, Mr Bond was already familiar with Matsuura products, coming to the company from the MTC where he worked as a technician in additive manufacturing.

Matsuura’s Spindle Facility, with its Class 1000 cleanroom based in Leicestershire, provides off the shelf service exchange spindles for Matsuura users all over the UK and Europe.

Commenting on the new positions, David Spencer, spindle facility manager said: “The appointment of these experienced engineers to our spindle department is key to continuing to offer excellent response times and exceed our customers’ expectations. Building work has already begun to extend the floorspace of the department, further enhancing this advanced facility.”
