The third-year mechanical apprentice at Mazak in Worcester, who is on a BTEC Mechanical Engineering pathway, will be racing her 1,200cc Suzuki engine drag bike she built with her father, Brett.

The bike, which has a top speed of more than 120mph, will compete in the six national championships scheduled for the year. She was previously Junior Champion in 2014 and won Best Appearing Bike in 2017.

Ms Cordelle, 18, began her apprenticeship at Mazak in 2015. She currently works in the Spindle Service Centre at Mazak’s Worcester-based European manufacturing plant and is due to complete her apprenticeship in July this year.
