Next level handheld 3D scanning from Creaform

At a global product launch held in Quebec, Canada, Creaform 3D impressed over 300 attendees with the launch of the all-new HandySCAN Black metrology grade handheld 3D scanners.

Designed to offer speed, accuracy, resolution and ease-of-use, the new scanners are set to make a big impact on the 3D scanning marketplace.

The HandySCAN 3D started the handheld scanning revolution in 2005 by introducing scanning technology that didn’t require a positioning device or fixed tripods and stands. This ‘self-positioning’ technology made scanning quick, easy and above all accurate, even in difficult applications and locations. The latest HandySCAN Black scanners are claimed by the manufacturer to move handheld scanning to the next level.

With two models available in the range, the flagship HandySCAN Black Elite acquires 1.3 million points/second, and can achieve an accuracy of 25µm. Creaform says the use of 11 blue laser crosses enables the scanner to acquire data rapidly, accurately and to a higher resolution than any other scanners such as white light, portable arms or laser trackers.

In addition, the new laser technology means the scanner can easily adapt to surface conditions, meaning shiny parts are no longer a problem and do not require any preparation such as powder sprays.

As one of Creaform’s leading resellers worldwide, Measurement Solutions has been one of the first to receive demo units. The sales team has been busy learning the new features of the systems and is now ready to provide onsite demonstrations throughout the UK.
