Midlands company backs recovery with record investment

A Midlands manufacturing company is backing the economic recovery by announcing its biggest ever investment in new machinery, after record breaking turnover figures.

Cannock-based laser cutting subcontractor Laser Process has placed a £1 million order for two new Trumpf laser cutting systems. Managing director of the Keys Park firm, Dave Lindsey, said the investment demonstrates the company's commitment to the economic upturn.

The announcement comes after Laser Process experienced its best ever month of trade in March with turnover up by 10% on its previous best four week period, set before the recession back in early 2008. Trading confidence received a further boost after it secured its largest ever single order in March for just over £100,000 worth of steel decking plates. The new Trumpf machines are predicted to increase the capacity by 25%.

The purchase is part of an ongoing company reinvestment policy involving continually updating machinery with the latest technology. The current investment marks the 10th and 11th systems the subcontractor has ordered from the company since buying its first Trumpf machine in 1994.

Laser Process specialises in the precision cutting of all types of metal for a wide range of engineering applications. The business employs 36 staff and has a multi-million pound turnover and celebrated its 20th anniversary last year.
Dave Lindsey commented: “We have always invested in the latest technology so we can continue to offer the highest level of quality to customers, and we're continuing to do that to make sure our service remains the best.
“This order also shows our belief in the economic upturn. Business as the moment is going very well with our strongest ever month in terms of turnover and the largest single order we've ever had. The main reason for that is customers know we'll do our very best for them.”

The new laser cutting systems will be built to order and are set to be installed by the end of June 2011.
