Mills CNC has recently opened a new, state-of-the-art ‘Turnkey & Automation Centre’, located at its Campus facility in Leamington.

The Centre provides Mills with both a dedicated area to demonstrate its latest industrial and collaborative robot automation systems and solutions to customers, and provides a focal point for the company’s successful turnkey and process improvement business which, over the last few years, has grown exponentially.

As Mills’ technical director Tony Dale explained, in addition to its successful machine tool business, Mills has been at the forefront of developing and implementing highly-customised turnkey systems and solutions for its customers for many years.

“More and more manufacturers, as a route to improving their productivity and increasing their efficiency and effectiveness, are taking a much more holistic and comprehensive view of their manufacturing operations and, rather than simply just acquiring a new machine tool to increase capacity, are investing in turnkey solutions – many of which include advanced automation systems.”

To help make automation more accessible and attractive to component manufacturers, Mills has developed its own SYNERGi branded automated manufacturing systems.

The SYNERGi Premier, SYNERGi Classic and SYNERGi Sprint systems take the complexity out of automation. All systems are flexible and powerful but, unlike some automation solutions on the market, are also simple to understand, program and operate.

The systems can be integrated with Doosan lathes, machining centres and mill-turn machines – improving their productivity and efficiency and all are powered by Mills’ proprietary SYNERGi software.

Mills CNC is the UK and Irish distributor for leading global cobot manufacturer – Doosan Robotics. Doosan cobots are proven and popular, and are designed to perform a range of tasks from machine tending, inspection and testing through to packaging, assembly and pick and place operations.

The cobots are versatile, reliable, safe and easy to use and install. And there are three different cobot ranges available: the A-, M- and H-series’.

“At a time when many manufacturers were battening down the hatches, waiting to see out the pandemic, we have been proactive,” Mr Dale concluded.

“The Turnkey and Automation Centre is now complete and is open for business. We are confident about its success and that it will soon become the ‘go-to’ place for manufacturers looking to maintain their competitive edge.”
