The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) will throw open its doors as it looks to continue to inspire the next generation of engineers.

Fresh from employing 39 new apprentices in September 2017 – including a record number of young women – the Ansty Park-based R&D facility will be holding its latest open evening as it looks to highlight the range of career opportunities in advanced manufacturing.

Leading companies including Triumph, Fanuc and DMG Mori, who have all employed MTC apprentices, will also be present to offer advice and showcase engineering careers across a range of sectors including Formula 1, aerospace, automotive, rail and automation.

The opening evening, on 10th October, is aimed at all prospective students and parents from across the Midlands to discover more about the three-year award-winning programme on offer at the MTC’s Lloyds Bank Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre (AMTC).

The fact-finding event runs from 5pm to 7:30pm and will feature live demonstrations, a chance to take part in a virtual reality welding challenge, view the latest technology and equipment in its purpose-built training centre and a chance to meet current apprentices.

Paul Rowlett, AMTC managing director, said: “Our training programme develops skills and competencies that are needed by industry. There are great opportunities for our apprentices to move into secure, well-paid jobs and excellent career prospects.

“Our open evening enables visitors to see just how varied and fulfilling engineering can be. Few other industries promise such strong job opportunities or the chance to be involved in the discovery of new technologies.”

The open evening will also promote a number of business administration apprenticeship opportunities working within the MTC campus which has seen growth in the past five years to over 500 employees.

All of the MTC’s apprenticeships offer the chance to ‘earn and learn’ and lead to recognised industry qualifications.
