Some of UK's leading experts in artificial intelligence for manufacturing are being lined up to address a high-powered conference at the Manufacturing Technology Centre.

The keynote speaker at the event will be Chaco van der Sijp who is the innovation lead for manufacturing at Innovate UK. Other panellists include Ian Gardner, account technology leader at IBM, Phillip Proctor, head of research at Highways England, Dr George Economides, head of AI and autonomy at the Department for Transport and Paul Larking, global head of robotics and automation at 3M.

The MTC will be hosting the Artificial Intelligence for Manufacturing 2022 conference on Tuesday June 21. The free-to-attend conference will bring together industry, academia and research institutions to explore how to take AI and machine learning forward.

Nandini Chakravorti, associate director at the MTC said: “This is a great opportunity to delve into the world of artificial intelligence and understand how it can help manufacturing businesses in many ways. There is considerable AI resource in the UK, powered by the country's top talent, and that presents opportunities to propel that towards manufacturing.”

She added: “Digital technologies are rapidly transforming how we make products faster, cheaper and better. With the proper use of artificial intelligence, we can compete globally at pace and on price.”

Delegates at the conference, which is now an annual event, will be able to take part in live Q&A panel discussions or join educational workshops and technology demonstrations.

The conference builds on Artificial Intelligence for Manufacturing 2021, which was a hybrid event. Topics this year include the future of artificial intelligence, becoming data ready, AI for industrial applications, maintenance and security, and the benefits of AI for net-zero.
