Nasmyth Arden, based in Solihull, West Midlands and part of Nasmyth Group, has received a Supply Chains for the 21st Century (SC21) Bronze award.

Nasmyth Arden is the first company within Nasmyth Group’s four specialised divisions to achieve SC21 accreditation, an industry recognised standard. SC21 is a continuous improvement programme designed to increase the performance of suppliers and ultimately their supply chains within the UK aerospace, security, space and defence industries. SC21 companies, such as Roll Royce, which sponsored Nasmyth Arden, have signed up to a formal recognition process which reflects the contribution and commitment of their supply chain.

To achieve an SC21 award, Nasmyth Arden’s multi-skilled manufacturing team had to commit to achieving and maintaining a set of standards and improvement frameworks to supply chain development using the EFQM model of excellence for business (BUSEX) and manufacturing (MANEX) and a relationship management model (RMM).

Simon Beech, Nasmyth Group’s COO, said “We pride ourselves on the quality, accuracy, performance and delivery of all our products and services and our commitment to successfully meeting our customers’ requirements. Nasmyth Arden offers a wide range of engineering, manufacturing and finishing services to high profile clients across the aerospace and defence markets and achieving the SC21 Bronze Award is testament to the team and their determination to continually improve their business to meet the challenges of the markets in which we operate. It is a standard that we are very proud to have reached.”

Neil Barnett, ADS director of aerospace, added: “We are delighted that Nasmyth Arden, a division of the Nasmyth Group, has joined the SC21 programme and achieved a SC21 Bronze Award. Reaching the necessary standards for an SC21 Award is not easy and demonstrates that a company has committed to raising its performance and competitiveness in the global defence and aerospace supply chains. Nasmyth Group has shown that it can reach an industry benchmark, and is also committed to sustained and improved business performance, as it continues to work to within SC21 business and manufacturing excellence frameworks for delivery, quality and sustainable improvement.”
