There’s plenty going on at the Dugard open house taking place from 18-19 October at the company’s Hove-based headquarters – not least a curry night on Wednesday 19th from 6-9pm!
Certainly near the top of the list is the new X5-800 5-axis machining centre. Dugard describes this new addition as a fusion of German technology with Taiwanese cost-competitiveness. It features a large capacity with a minimum footprint, and can fulfil a wide range of complex machining demands.
The X5-800 is a high-speed machining centre with a Kessler 18,000rpm, 25/35kW built-in spindle and a Kessler 800mm diameter torque motor drive rotary table. The table can accommodate a maximum load of 1,300kg. It has XYZ travels of 800mm, 900mm and 650mm respectively, providing a maximum working area of 800mm diameter by 600mm (H).
With a dual tool option, the X5-800 is flexible. 32 tools are included as standard with an option for an additional 32 tools in the second tool magazine, increasing the storage capacity to an impressive 64 stations.
Even with such a generous capacity, the magazines are of compact design to maximise available space. Precision is high on the agenda: the A-axis is driven by two torque motors with up to 80rpm on the rotary table; the C-axis is powered by a single torque motor with a rotary table speed up to 100rpm. Complex machining is a priority for any 5-axis machining centre and the X5-800 doesn’t disappoint. The double driven four linear guideway Y-axis significantly reduces vibration during high-speed machining, increasing rigidity and ensuring exact positioning.
Also on show at the open house will be a selection of Samsung (SMEC) high precision production lathes with chuck sizes from 6 – 24 inches, Y-axis, and sub-spindles on many models. Boxways are standard on all models, ensuring both accuracy and rigid cutting features. Siemens and Fanuc controls are available on all models.
The technology showcase continues with the Dugard i42U and Dugard i42Twin multi-axis CNC lathes, proving that Taiwanese technology comes at highly competitive prices. Also on show will be Dugard’s XP range of high performance VMCs, with models from 760mm up to 2,600mm X-axis travels.
There’s also the Dugard 1000Y Plus – one of the company’s bestselling machines with an extended Y-axis travel of 610mm, a standard 12,000rpm, direct-drive spindle, Big Plus taper, 30 tool ATC and 20 bar through spindle coolant. The company promises some attractive deals on ex-Demo machines.
