New Dugard sales team is now complete

The re-structuring of the sales division at South Coast machine-tool specialist Dugard Machine Tools, is now complete with the company adding six new employees over the last 18 months. The latest phase in this re-structuring programme has seen the company add two more employees in recent weeks.

Regardless of the challenges of Brexit, floods, and now the Coronavirus, managing director Eric Dugard has been focused in his commitment to building his new sales team. The increased size of the sales department is in parallel with the company’s addition of new machine tool brands, such as Kitamura high-performance machining centres, Hanwha sliding head turning centres and cobots and Ibarmia large scale traveling column machines.

To support the sales function of these new brands in the South West and Wales region, Dugard has employed Peter Tilsed as the new area sales manager. Joining the company in March, Mr Tilsed’s appointment follows the appointment of Kevin Searl, the new area sales manager for the East Anglia and Home Counties region.

With 40 years in manufacturing, Mr Searl’s journey started as an apprentice toolmaker in 1980, where he progressed through the machine shop before working as a production engineer at Marconi Aerospace. Since the 1990s, he has spent his time as a consultant, an area sales manager and product manager for some of the most prestigious brands in the machine tool, cutting tool and ancillary equipment market segments.

Similarly, Peter Tilsed is another experienced engineer with more than 20 years’ field sales expertise. He began his career in a subcontract machine shop in the early 1980s, progressing from the shopfloor into production engineering and management roles. In the late 1990s, he switched his career path and focus into cutting tool sales.

Messrs Tilsed and Searl will be the fifth and sixth new arrivals at Dugard in the last 18 months, following the appointment of Colin Thompson who has just been promoted to a sales director role and new area sales managers: Gerald Coyle, Mark Anson and John Brimblecombe.

Eric Dugard commented: “We have added world-class brands to our portfolio and the sales of these high-quality machines will rest firmly upon the shoulders of our new team. We’re confident that our new sales engineers have the right blend of industry expertise and local market insight to really drive the advantages of the Dugard brand into manufacturing facilities the length and breadth of the UK.”
