Nikken is proud to announce the latest achievement of its mechatronics maintenance apprentice, Kirbi Taylor.

Ms Taylor’s determination and commitment to her role at Nikken has seen her presented with the AMRC Apprentice of the Year Award (first year). This prestigious honour, awarded by a panel of AMRC members and award sponsors, is granted based on a student’s contribution within their company.

Commending Ms Taylor’s thirst for knowledge and willingness to constantly push herself, the judges praised her high level of dedication, citing her as a ‘positive role model’.

At just 19 years old, this is a very impressive third win for Kirbi Taylor since embarking on her apprenticeship, having previously celebrated winning Rotherham Apprentice of the Year and the AMRC Spotlight of the Year award respectively.

Nikken is a strong advocates of apprentices, benefiting from a long-running partnership with the AMRC Training Centre that has produced an alumni of award winning apprentices. Alongside <s Taylor’s achievements, Nikken celebrated service apprentice Jonny Watson receiving the Rotherham Apprentice of the Year award in 2015.

Embodying this alliance, Ms Taylor’s unwavering enthusiasm has made her an essential part of the service team and an inspiration to the company’s latest apprentices.

“From the start the AMRC have supported me and pushed me to my full potential,” she enthused. “At Nikken I can use all the skills I have learned to progress as an engineer and as an apprentice – but they have also allowed me to expand my knowledge on how a successful and driven company operates in the other departments I have been able to work in outside my main role in service.”

“Since joining our service department in 2019, the team has been continually blown-away by Kirbi’s work ethic and positive attitude. Everyone throughout the company is tremendously proud of her achievements, with the entire team excited to continue supporting her in her future ambitions,” affirmed Nikken’s assistant general manager, Tim Bruce.

"It’s all down to her hard work, determination and a 'can do' attitude. We're delighted that Kirbi joined us, and we look forward to supporting her in a long and successful career at Nikken."
