Nuclear AMRC appoints new business development director
The Nuclear AMRC has appointed a new business development director to help UK manufacturers win work in the civil nuclear sector.
This week it was announced the UK Government has proposed £18 million investment in the creation of innovative mini nuclear power stations, called small modular reactors (SMR).
Rolls-Royce led the consortium earlier in the year that originally proposed significant joint investment of more than £500 million for SMRs, which are smaller and therefore less expensive to build than traditional plants.
So what are SMRs? This video explains how nuclear power may be making a comeback as an energy source as researchers develop reactors that are smaller than ever before.
