One good turn deserves another

Significant leads and enquiry levels gained from attending Seco’s Inspiration through Innovation 2017 event motivated technical partner Matsuura Machinery to donate £1,000 to Cancer Research UK – Seco’s charity of choice.

Seco Tools UK's most recent 'Inspiration through Innovation' Manufacturing Best-Practice Event, held at the company’s Technology Centre in Alcester in October 2017, pulled in the crowds (over 700 visitors over the two days), and cemented its position and reputation as a ‘go to’ annual event for UK and Irish component manufacturers.

Matsuura used the event to run a live machining demonstration that showcased the company’s new MX-330 PC10 automated simultaneous 5-axis machining centre.

Matsuura’s Ian Michie recalled: “We were absolutely amazed with the enquiry levels – many of which have started relationships that will blossom into new business.

“Even better, we secured a new customer account at the event who saw our 5-axis demonstration and we began a conversation with him that subsequently led to an RFQ, time-study and an eventual order for a highly specified, top of the range Matsuura automated 5-axis solution with an extended automated pallet pool.”

So impressed by the event, including its organisation, exhibition layout, strength and diversity of exhibitors, onsite catering and the help and assistance provided by Seco staff, that Matsuura decided to demonstrate its gratitude to Seco through a donation to charity.

Roger Howkins, Matsuura UK managing director commented: “The £1,000 donation from Matsuura to Cancer Research UK – Seco’s charity of choice – was offered as a genuine thank you to Seco for their support and hospitality before, during and after the event.

“We are delighted to support Cancer Research UK with our donation to help fund much needed research into finding a cure for cancer.”

Seco Tools UK is heavily involved with a number of local and national charities and the donation from Matsuura has been matched by Seco. A cheque for £2,000 was presented to Ellen Jurczak, local fundraising manager (Birmingham) from Cancer Research UK in May 2018.

Seco’s Mike Fleming added: “It’s great news that our event ticked so many boxes for Matsuura and resulted in their kind donation.

“We are now well underway developing plans for Inspiration through Innovation 2018 and I am confident that this year’s exhibition, with even more emphasis on showcasing innovative and collaborative machining solutions, will prove just as successful, if not moreso, than its predecessors.”
