PCML restores Bridge Works and achieves ISO accreditation
PCML’s Bridge Works site in Thorney, near Peterborough, has received its ISO 9001:2015 accreditation just seven months after the 100+ year old industrial building was earmarked for demolition. PCML took over the lease for the factory and grounds in January of this year.
“This is a significant achievement for everyone at the Thorney site,” said PCML managing director, Nadine Bishop. “At the end of 2017 the building was derelict and condemned to make way for housing. Instead, we’ve restored it and built a thriving, precision engineering machine shop employing 10 people.”
As well as housing multiple, variously sized Haas CNC machine tools, PCML’s Bridge Works facility is also home of the company’s investment in collaborative robots, by Rethink Robotics.
“At Thorney we have the space to invest in new technology,” added Ms Bishop. “To think that less than a year ago the building was a condemned shell. Everyone involved with resurrecting the site and gaining the ISO accreditation – bringing it in line with the rest of the business, should feel proud of their achievement.”
Based at four sites in Cambridgeshire, PCML provides innovative, engineering and manufacturing solutions to OEMs and first tier suppliers across a wide range of industry sectors.
