Performance honours

Objet Geometries has named UK agent HK Technologies as its 'European Distributor of the Year for Outstanding Performance 2009'.

Designer and manufacturer of ultra thin layer (0.016mm), high resolution 3D printing systems, Objet Geometries has named UK agent HK Technologies of Rugby as its ‘European Distributor of the Year for Outstanding Performance 2009'.

“Although last year was tough, we were the European distributor that achieved the best results relative to the budget originally disclosed,” explained HK's managing director Nigel Bunt. “Naturally we are delighted with this outcome and feel that it's just reward for the effort and dedication of the sales and support team here at HK.”

Objet Geometries was established in 2000, and HK Technologies has been an official distributor since 2001 – the longest standing such arrangement in the UK.

“Ever since we started supporting Objet, our 3D printer business has been growing,” continued Mr Bunt. “We now have a significant number of installations in the UK and we continue to expand our activities in this rapidly growing technology area.”

3D printing is growing in popularity as product designers and engineers begin to realise the full potential of this fast evolving rapid prototyping and rapid manufacturing process.

Objet's range of solutions include the Eden line of professional 3D printers and the affordable Alaris family of desktop 3D printing systems – both of which are based on Objet's patented PolyJet technology. Top of the range is the Connex family – reported to be the world's only multi-material 3D printing system. Connex is based on PolyJet Matrix technology, which jets multiple model materials simultaneously to create composite Digital Materials on the fly.

Any design and/or manufacturing companies that generate CAD files should consider the merits of 3D printing,” Mr Bunt concluded. “While other types of rapid prototyping such as SLS, FDM and SLA require special knowledge and training, 3D printing is simply plug and play. It also offers a much faster and more affordable way of bringing new products and designs to market, whatever their complexity.”
