Prize draw grinding

Deburring and surface finishing specialist Ellesco will be giving stand visitors the opportunity to win a Timesavers 10 series surface finishing machine in its MACH prize draw. With more floor space this year Ellesco will have a wide range of new technologies and innovations on show.

From its Grindingmaster-Timesavers stable Christchurch-based Ellesco will be showing five machines. This will include two compact Timesavers 10 series machines, one of which will be given away in the prize draw. The other machines will include the Timesavers 12 series WB, the 22 series 900W and the 42 series WRBW machine. Ellesco will once again be inviting manufacturers to bring parts to the show to trial the surface finishing capabilities of the Timesavers range.

The smallest machine, the Timesavers 10 series is a manual grinder that provides a cost-effective alternative to conventional grinding and deburring. Its head consists of a grinding wheel and a flap brush that can be tilted 180° making it possible to exchange between the aggregates easily. With a weight-bearing arm, the head can be easily moved over the workpiece to create uniform finishes. This is an ideal entry-level surface finishing machine that will process parts effortlessly for potential customers.

The next step up from the 10 series is the 12 series WB machine. At MACH, Ellesco will show the 600mm wide variant with abrasive deburring belt and ScotchBrite brush for relatively small components. The 12 series can process parts with a width of 600mm and a component thickness of 1-125mm.

The compact solution is available with a table feed rate from 3 to 9m/minute and a sturdy weight up to 100kg depending upon the specified model. Furthermore, the 12 series at MACH will have a magnetic track to demonstrate how the machine can process very small steel parts without any fixturing or workholding. Additionally, it is delivered with a centralised control panel, dust extraction funnel, belt security and full CE marking.

For more robust applications, Ellesco will be showing the capability of the proven 22 series 900W machine that incorporates a 900mm wide table for wider parts. This single head deburring machine for the deburring and finishing of sheetmetal parts offers a wide selection of heads and widths that combine with standard features to deliver a solution for most sheet metal finishing tasks. Renowned for being one of the most flexible machines in the Timesavers stable, the 900W can be applied to a diverse application range.

The largest of the Timesavers machines and one of Ellesco's best sellers is the Timesavers 42 series WRBW machine. Ideal for the deburring and edge rounding of laser, flame, plasma and waterjet cut parts as well as the finishing of punched and machined parts, the machine can conduct the pre-grinding of heavy burrs and the final surface finish graining of components in one pass. The 42 series RB range has a vacuum conveyor as standard, allowing parts from 50mm to 1,350mm to be processed. The new 1,000mm wide version will be on display, a more compact unit than the 1,350mm model shown at MACH 2014.

Alongside the Timesaver machines, the company will be showing the Kuhlmeyer ZBS2 twin belt grinding machine. Particularly effective for the sanding, grinding and polishing of stainless steel and a host of other metallic materials, the ZBS2 has two abrasive belts that are driven over an idle roller that rests above the workpiece. This new design has been developed to eliminate secondary finishing processes whilst giving the operator complete control and visibility of the finishing process. Popular in the sheetmetal industry, the ZBS is ideal for weld dressing, graining and especially boxes and enclosures. The machine at MACH will be equipped with a vacuum multi-axis handling device.

The Kuhlmeyer will be complemented at MACH by the T300K deburring and graining machine from VG Machines for metal grinding. Available with belt widths of 200, 300 or 650mm with one, two or three grinding heads, the T300K is also available with the option of single or double brushes for enhanced finishing processes. With non-slip 1,900mm belts, the T300K has a height adjustment level from 1 to 10mm. At MACH, the mid-range T300K machine will be demonstrated with a single polishing head.

With automation being such a core competence of the modern manufacturing business, Ellesco will be introducing a host of automated finishing packages on its stand. This will include the WMS-Engineering series of deburring machines for cast or machined components through a contained robotic cell.

The German manufactured range primarily consists of bespoke solutions to meet the exact needs of the end user. The machines are popular with customers in the automotive sector, however some models in the WMS series offer standardisation with a degree of flexibility to meet the various demands of the customer. At MACH, the WMS unit on show will be the W-03, which is capable of picking components up to 10kg through multiple axis manipulation at high-speed.

For the automated polishing of multi-faceted parts, Ellesco will also be highlighting the potential of the Autopulit robotic polishing cell. The Autopulit demonstration will be designed to show tool changeovers with efficient and consistent polishing quality on production runs of parts with complex features and forms.
