Latest Citizen tech used to aid ventilator production

Reginson Engineering based in Nuneaton has invested in the latest Citizen manufacturing technology to make critical components to fight coronavirus.

The company has purchased the UK’s first Citizen Cincom A20-VII with LFV to support the production of urgent critical components for ventilators.

A spokesperson for Reginson said: “The team at Reginson Engineering would like to thank Citizen CNC for their outstanding support and commitment. Within 36 hours Citizen delivered, commissioned and set the machine. We are now in a position to further support the ventilator project.”

Reginson is supporting Rolls-Royce in the manufacture of ventilator components, which is part of the industrial consortium Ventilator Challenge UK.

The consortium, led by Dick Elsy, the CEO of High Value Manufacturing Catapult, is boosting the production of ventilators for the NHS as it copes with the peak of the coronavirus outbreak.

Component manufacturing and assembly of existing ventilator designs by Smiths Medical and Penlon are being scaled up across the country at different manufacturing sites.

Reginson’s dedicated team will be working around the clock in order to meet targets and support the government’s call for more available ventilators.

Citizen’s patented low frequency vibration (LFV) process increases the performance of machines, levels of surface finishing and significantly improves chip control. It also enables cutting more reliably, reducing the need for operator intervention.
