Sandvik is about to launch titanium powder for 3D printing

Sandvik, a leader in metal powder for additive manufacturing (AM), is about to launch titanium powder for 3D printing applications.


The company has one of the widest alloy programmes in the world, and can also customise materials to cater clients’ needs.

To get optimum results in AM, it is essential to use high quality metal powders with good flow characteristics. With more than 150 years of material knowledge and in-house powder manufacturing capabilities, Sandvik is an expert when it comes to gas-atomised AM-powders, as well as in matching the right materials to specific print processes and applications.

In addition, Sandvik's AM machine park includes all relevant additive manufacturing processes for metals – meaning Sandvik can tailor the powder to varied printing processes. The company's new titanium powder plant offers a high level of automation as well , ensuring better reliability and consistency.

The titanium powders are called Osprey Ti-6Al-4V Grade 5 and Osprey Ti-6Al-4V Grade 23.
